Monolith appears in Scripps Ranch

A shiny monolith mysteriously appeared overnight between Dec. 7 and 8 near a corner in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace shopping center next to Nutmeg Bakery & Café, 10755 Scripps Poway Parkway.
Employees, business owners and shoppers arrived at the shopping area and discovered the gleaming structure the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 8. Those not yet fully awake might have passed it without noticing it, since the monolith appears to fit in perfectly with its surroundings.
The Scripps Ranch monolith is similar to others spotted across the world in recent weeks. It is approximately 10-feet-high, with three tall, shiny metal sides. It was installed in an area that has several plants and other landscaping near the busy corner. All the surrounding ground cover appeared to be undisturbed or neatly spread back in place.
While some might speculate that this installation was the work of aliens from another planet, a series of small screws securing one of the three panels indicated this is the work of earthlings, unless some alien culture stole our primitive technology to create the structure.
Nevertheless, the craftmanship was exceptional. Whether the work of aliens from another galaxy, a well-planned and executed prank, a promotional attempt to boost business in the shopping center or a work of art, the piece was met with approval and much curiosity by those viewing it. By 11 a.m. Dec. 8, several shoppers were stopping to gawk at the monolith, taking cell phone videos and photos. A vehicle from KUSI News television and another from FOX 5 News television were also on the scene.
Similar monoliths were discovered recently around the globe, generating a viral flood of speculation and comments on social media and providing a much-needed distraction from the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic and other deeply troublesome concerns plaguing the year 2020.
The first was discovered in late November by state officials counting bighorn sheep in an isolated canyon of Utah’s Red Rock Country. A few days later a similar monolith was found in Romania. Another appeared near Atascadero in Central California. All three of these finds were widely reported in the news and went viral on social media. Another was spotted on the Isle of Wight off the coast of the United Kingdom, and another was seen in a northern province of the Netherlands. Since then, two others were reportedly discovered – one in Pittsburgh near a candy shop and another near a pizza restaurant in El Paso, Texas. Most of these have been removed – some as mysteriously as they appeared.
Now, Scripps Ranch has its own mysterious monolith – at least for the time being.
