Addy’s Bistro: A secret that needs to be discovered

Addy’s Bistro is one of the best kept local secrets clearly needing to be discovered!

It’s conveniently located at 13771 Danielson St. just north of Scripps Poway Parkway. Addy’s Bistro is a cozy, inviting oasis catering to workers looking for a quick bite, anyone needing a cool drink, those with big appetites, diners who enjoy excellent cuisine or shoppers seeking a unique gift. It’s also a perfect spot for local community groups to gather.

The most popular breakfast item is the breakfast burrito, which comes with an option for any type of meat, or vegetarian.

“Our potato seasoning that’s done in-house is what really sets it apart,” said Denise Mary-Callander Stein, Addy’s owner. “We also offer house-made salsa. So, it’s the little touches that make a really big difference.”

Other popular breakfast items are the Addy’s omelette and the Monte Cristo, which is often enjoyed at breakfast because it is served with Addy’s farm to table jam. The jam can also be purchased separately by the jar.

Addy’s has a full coffee menu; and fresh muffins, bars, brownies and cookies.

Popular lunch items include chicken pesto panini on focaccia, and turkey gouda on focaccia.

“For a little bistro, we carry nine different kinds of bread. We bake everything fresh to order,” Denise said. “Our number one entrée is our chicken teriyaki bowl. The reason is that it is served with my pineapple habanero chutney … It’s a big, big deal!”

The number one sandwich is the turkey bacon avocado, hands down, she said.

“They head to our chicken because our chicken has another one of our house-blended spices that is marinated and it’s freshly grilled,” Denise explained. “Our chicken is not dry. It’s not burnt with grill marks. It is done to perfection.”

In addition, Denise sells a surprising amount of homemade soup, even in the warm weather. The bistro also offers phenomenal salads and wraps, she said.

Denise, who calls herself a farm girl from Oregon, also sells delectable Atle’s caramels. All her ventures are named for her grandchildren.

Addy’s Bistro was just named the Poway Chamber of Commerce 2022 New Business of the Year.

Addy’s is open Mondays-Fridays, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
